Going Back In Time...

A sports talented personality of Pune Mr. Raju R. Dabhade has invented NEW GAME CALLED "ROLLBALL" Basically he was fascinated by the thrill of Roller skates since his childhood. He was champion on Roller Skates at his time. He imparts roller skating training. The idea of this new game conceived in his mind for years together. After making careful study of all the aspects of this game he has come up with his own ideas of Roll Ball. Shri. Raju Dabhade was awarded the “Raja Mantri puraskar’’ by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Mr.. Vilasrao Deshmukh on 19th December 2005, for his contribution towards Roll ball and Roller skating. This has given a boost not only the Mr. Raju Dabhade but also to the game of Roll Ball. He shared his idea with colleagues in MES Balshikshan Mandir English Medium School, Kothrud,Pune, where he is a sport teacher. His colleagues supported his idea whole heartedly and helped him setting up the Basic and Technical Rules and Regulations for this new game. Ex-Principal Mrs. Hemlata Honwad, Principal Dr. Sunita Bhagwat and staff extended their cooperation and allowed him to choose amongst the students, to form the team for his experiments. For the technical side he received valuable guidance from Pramod Patwardhan, Sayli Umbranikar, Rahul Rane, Shripad Shinde, Sanjay Kamble, Ashok Gunjal,Janak Tekale(Asstt. Director of Sports Maharashtra State). This technical data was neatly compiled and made ready for publication by well known Reiki master Vinod Bodhankar, Ravindra Sakhalkar and Ravindra Pharate of Shree Vijay Vallabh Schools,Dilip Gole. Official Roll Ball book published for the guidelines to the Players, Coaches, Organizers and Sport lovers. An elaborate maiden effort is made to cover most of the Basic and Technical facets of the game. Wherever needed the material is supported with the help of figures, signs, diagrams etc. The experiment was going on for nearly two years. With suitable changes and modifications from time to time the game took final shape. The demonstration was organized with the help of Principal Dr. Sunita Bhagwat, Sunil Raibagi, Pravin Gokhale,Shrikant Shirlekar, Ujjwala Barve and parents of MES Balshikshan Mandir. On 2nd February,2003 this new game "Roll Ball" was presented to the world of sports.
